ASUKUBUS
is a queer and femme fronted experimental music and performance collective featuring 15 musical improvisers, performers, visual artists, and writers in Dallas/Denton Tx, and New Orleans. The live performance ensemble is fluid, often featuring 2-5 performers. Described as dark experimentation in primal scream therapy, the performance is a purge against patriarchy; a violent release of trauma and emotion and a powerful stand for justice, or revenge, by any means necessary. Inspired by the likes of Diamanda Galas, Dead Can Dance, Meredith Monk, Scott Walker, and Leigh Bowrey, Asukubus aims to haunt, unsettle, and overwhelm it's audience while maintaining a sense of euphoria.
